BIO

My name is Jessica Borkenhagen and I am a Masters Level Intern at Experiencing Moore.  I will be graduating in November of 2022 and then will proceed to become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.  I have a BA in K-12 Art Education and spent 15 years working as an art teacher, mostly in the middle school setting.  I also spent time working as a family ministry director, foster parent, and women’s health center volunteer.  Through those experiences I was able to engage in people’s lives through creative expression, meaningful discussions, skill building, support, and spirituality.  I look forward to similar engagement in the therapeutic setting. I am specifically interested in working with adults and adolescents experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions as well as couples facing infidelity, communication difficulties, loss of connection, parenting struggles, or just in need of a relationship check-in. I look forward to working alongside you as you navigate life’s path!

Daniel Borkenhagen, MDiv, MS, MH PR - Licensee LPC

BIO

I am finishing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and will then be pursuing full licensure as an LPCC, in MN.

My goal is to help you think about yourself in terms of body, mind, and soul and how all of these can be part of your solution.  My background includes 16 years as a pastor working with children, youth, and adults as well as five years specifically working with seniors.  I have loved these positions, but I felt that I was being called to pursue additional expertise in counseling, especially after working through my own struggles with addiction and finding a path to recovery that involved counseling and 12 Step work.  I am specifically interested in helping people work through struggles with depression, anxiety, grief, caregiving, marital/relationship problems, and addiction and work with adolescents, adults, and seniors.  I will build a cooperative relationship with you, help you find your own strengths, ask the right questions, and help you challenge thoughts and patterns from your past and present that are undermining your mental health.  My therapeutic approach includes elements of systems and cognitive behavioral theories, but I’m always looking at each individual and tailoring my approach to them.  I look forward to supporting you on your path to whole person health.

I am in the final year of Bethel Seminary’s MFT program. As soon as I am able, I intend to pursue licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I have served as a Lutheran (ELCA) pastor for more than 20 years, and I am thankful for the many ways that people have shared key experiences in life with me and invited me to be part of their journeys of healing and hope. These experiences have been valuable and have helped me recognize how important it is for family networks to be engaged in the pursuit of wellness.
